Meath Astronomy has been established with the aim to promote
a general interest in the astronomy within the local community within Meath and
across Ireland. The group is run by a volunteer team of amateur astronomers who are very
keen to share their time and knowledge and meet new people.
Events
Meath Astronomy Group hold regular events at Rathbeggan Lakes only 15min from the M50. Open public event nights and club evenings have proven to be very popular and great way to share our love of the night sky and promote science in our local community. If you have not done so already, please come down and take this opportunity to look through the wide variety of scopes set up. Each Meath astronomy member would kindly explain what is currently in the nights sky an give an explanation on their telescope. We welcome anyone who may want to bring along a telescope, binocular or camera and share their experience or ask for help if needed.
Observing Programme
Meath Astronomy is also affiliated to the Astronomical League Observing Programme (Skywatcher League Ireland) if you are interested in a structured observing programme that which you to achieve reward pins and certificates for completing observing programmes. These programmes will be supported at club events.
Club
On August 1st 2014 we launched as an official club at Dunsink Observatory and will commence with club workshops and demo's in September. To become a club member please contact us via email (top of the page) for details.
